IAE International Aero Engines today announced that new aircraft leasing company, Air Lease Corporation (ALC), has selected the V2500 to power 30 of the 51 Airbus A320 family aircraft it ordered at the 2010 Farnborough Airshow.

This deal, valued at over $500 million, represents the first engine order the new lessor has announced for its A320s on order. The engines will be the new V2500 SelectOne™ build standard and deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2011.

Founded earlier this year by Steven F. Udvar-Hazy, ALC has raised several billions of U.S. dollars of capital to acquire a new portfolio of aircraft and aims to have a fleet of 100 aircraft by spring 2011.

Mr Udvar-Hazy, Chairman and CEO of ALC said: “The V2500 is an extremely popular engine in the marketplace and maintains an excellent market share. Based on feedback from operators, we see a strong market for V2500-powered A320 family aircraft and look forward to a long and lasting relationship with IAE.”

IAE President and CEO, Ian Aitken, added: “ALC’s selection of V2500 SelectOne™ for the majority of its A320 fleet is a clear endorsement of our product from one of the industry’s most influential individuals. We look forward to growing our partnership with ALC and as we work together to serve our customers.”

The V2500 SelectOne™ build standard delivers an additional one percent fuel burn advantage, along with a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions. It improves time-on-wing by up to 20 percent, and will be compliant with the most stringent CAEP/6 NOx standards. Along with these improvements the V2500 SelectOne build standard will ensure the value of the engine into the future. The SelectOne build standard entered service on schedule in October 2008.

The V2500 is available in seven different thrust settings, from 22,000 to 33,000lb, to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet. More than 6,000 V2500 engines are in service or on firm order with more than 190 customers around the world.

IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise Pratt & Whitney (NYSE: UTX), Rolls-Royce (RR.L.), Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines (XETRA: MTX.DE).

With deliveries scheduled to begin in April 2011, this deal, worth over $700 million, will see Vietnam increase its fleet of IAE-powered aircraft to 58 over the next 3 years.

The airline has been operating the V2500 since 2003 and currently has 22 IAE-powered aircraft in service. The aircraft are used on major domestic routes between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and on regional routes serving Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok and Singapore.

“We can only maintain our position as a major airline in Asia with a consistently reliable and competitive product that satisfies our customers’ needs,” said President and CEO Pham Ngoc Minh of Vietnam Airlines. “The V2500 has played a fundamental part in helping us achieve this thanks to its excellent in-service performance and reliability record, coupled with affordable cost of ownership. We view the engine as an integral part of our fleet.”

IAE President and CEO, Ian Aitken, added: “Vietnam Airlines successfully positioned itself as a modern brand through the acquisition of new aircraft and world-class technology. The airline’s repeat order for the V2500 fits with this vision and that its performance meets the high standards set by Vietnam airlines.”

IAE International Aero Engines today announced that China Southern Airlines has again selected the V2500 to power a new fleet of 20 Airbus A320 family aircraft it has on order. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2011.

The contract also includes a long-term IAE Aftermarket Services agreement. The combined value of the engine and aftermarket business is in excess of $400 million.

The China Southern airline group is one of the largest operators of the V2500 with 136 aircraft in service, including 13 Boeing MD-90s and 123 Airbus A320 family aircraft. A further five
IAE-powered aircraft are yet to be delivered in addition to this latest order.

China Southern first operated the V2500 in 1996 and has since logged over three million flying hours with this engine type.

Mr. Tan Wangeng, President of China Southern said: “The V2500 has proven itself to be a highly reliable and it has contributed a lot to our reputation as the leading airline in China. Our decision to once again select the V2500 to power our new A320s will further enhance our long standing relationship with IAE.”

Bob Zimmerman, Vice President – China added, “As an existing IAE customer, China Southern’s selection of the V2500-powered A320 also demonstrates the airline’s confidence in our ability to deliver a cost-effective and reliable services solution and excellent product support.”

All of the airline’s V2500 engines on its A320 family aircraft are covered by a long-term IAE Aftermarket Services agreement, making it one of the largest customers to see the value in this type of long-term partnership with its engine manufacturer. As part of its existing aftermarket agreement, China Southern has opted to upgrade its existing V2500-A5 fleet to the new
V2500 SelectOne™ build standard. Since the retrofit was introduced in late 2008, the airline has completed 26 upgrades to date.

The 22,000-33,000lb of thrust V2500 is available in seven different thrust settings to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet. More than 5,500 V2500 engines are in service or on firm order.

IAE International Aero Engines today announced that Yemen Airways (Yemenia), the national airline of The Republic of Yemen, has selected the V2500 to power 10 Airbus A320s. The engines will be the new V2500 SelectOne™ build standard and deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2011.

This represents the first order the Sana’a based airline has placed for the V2500 on the first A320s the airline has purchased. The engines will be supported by a long-term IAE Aftermarket Services agreement and the combined value of the deal is $300 million.

Fundamental to Yemenia’s decision to select the V2500 was the engine’s superior performance and reliability in arduous hot and high conditions. With Sana’a International Airport sitting at 7,200 feet elevation, thrust performance at altitude is a major factor.

Captain Abdul Kalek Al-Kadi, Chairman of Yemenia said: “The V2500 has demonstrated a clear performance advantage operating in the difficult environments at our home base. Combined with the additional fuel burn and time on wing benefits that have been developed with V2500 SelectOne™, we get the reliability we desire at a lower operating cost.

“The V2500 also meets all future environmental requirements by the relevant local and international authorities,” added Captain Al-Kadi.

IAE Vice President – Asia Pacific and Middle East, Chris Bewley, added: “Yemenia, Yemen Airways is growing as a competitor in the global airline market. It has been investing in modernizing its operation in order to cement this growth and deliver a quality experience to its customers. Introducing the V2500-powered A320 to its fleet is part of this long term strategy and we’re proud to be playing a part in the airline’s history.”

The V2500 SelectOne™ build standard delivers an additional one percent fuel burn advantage, along with a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions.

IAE International Aero Engines today announced that V2500 SelectOne™, the latest production standard of its successful narrowbody engine, has achieved one million flying hours after just 20 months in service.

The new engine build standard, which debuted with Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo in October 2008, is now operating on over 200 aircraft with 32 airline customers around the globe. It has a record of exceptional reliability following a flawless entry into service and continued dependable operation.

One of the key advantages of the new build standard is up to an additional one percent fuel burn, which has the added benefit of reducing CO2 emissions. The V2500 SelectOne™ is also expected to deliver up to 20 percent time-on-wing improvement as part of the program. More than 2,600 V2500 SelectOne™ engines have been ordered since the upgrade was launched in 2005.

Ian Aitken, President and CEO at IAE, said: “This variant of the V2500 has been incredibly popular, largely due to its increased fuel burn advantage that takes our total benefit to four percent. In an industry dominated by the price of oil, that additional one percent gained with V2500 SelectOne™ generates significant savings for operators that have a direct impact on the bottom line. And as emissions trading schemes are introduced around the world, the reduction in CO2 emissions will also be influential for an airline’s engine selection.

“Achieving one million flying hours and 500,000 cycles in just 20 months is testament to the engine’s success.”

The V2500 SelectOne™ standard was also designed to provide additional benefits to operators with existing V2500-A5 fleets through the ability to retrofit the majority of the improved parts at a scheduled shop visit. The first retrofit was completed on a US Airways engine in February 2009 and since then a further 80 upgrades have been completed.

The V2500 is available in seven different thrust settings from 22,000-33,000lb of thrust to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet. More than 5,500 V2500 engines are in service or on firm order with more than 190 customers around the world.

Turkish Airlines (THY), the national carrier of Turkey, has selected the IAE International Aero Engines V2500 SelectOne™ build standard to power 20 firm and 10 option A320 family aircraft scheduled for delivery between 2011 and 2013. The deal is valued at up to $500 million.

The airline’s firm order includes six A319s and 14 A321s and will be used to facilitate growth in their network. THY currently operates a fleet of 45 IAE-powered aircraft which are predominantly used on routes to Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and CIS. The airline has been a V2500 operator since 2004 and this is the third time they have selected IAE.

Mr Hamdi Topçu, Chairman of Turkish Airlines said; “We have been exceptionally pleased with the V2500 during our six years operating the engine. It has helped us to maintain a reputation for cost control that helps us to remain competitive in one of the most demanding aviation markets.”

IAE President and CEO, Ian Aitken added; “THY recognizes the value that the V2500 offers to airlines through lower operating costs and the airline’s confidence is demonstrated through its repeated orders. We work hard to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction in both our product and our customer support and our volume of repeat business is testament to that.”

The V2500 SelectOne™ build standard delivers an additional one percent fuel burn advantage, along with a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions. It improves time-on-wing by up to 20 percent, and will be compliant with the most stringent CAEP/6 NOx standards. It entered service on schedule in October 2008.

The 22,000-33,000lb of thrust V2500 is available in seven different thrust settings to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet. More than 5,500 V2500 engines are in service or on firm order.

IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise of Pratt & Whitney (NYSE: UTX), Rolls-Royce (RR.L.), Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines. There are more than 5,500 V2500s in service or on firm order with more than 170 customers around the world.

Sichuan Airlines today confirmed it has selected the IAE International Aero Engines V2500 to power its latest fleet of Airbus A320s currently on order. This deal includes V2500 SelectOne™ engines for 12 firm aircraft, due to be delivered between 2011 and 2015.

In addition, Sichuan has chosen to support these engines with a long-term IAE Aftermarket Services Agreement, where coverage includes overhaul, engine health monitoring and on-wing coverage. The total value of this new business is worth $300 million to IAE.

Sichuan’s current A320 family fleet of 61 aircraft in service and on order is exclusively powered by the V2500 and the airline was the launch customer for the V2500 in China in 1995.

Ian Aitken, President and CEO – IAE said, “Sichuan is yet another example of a returning customer that maintains great confidence in our product and enjoys doing business with us. We have an exceptional, long-term relationship with Sichuan that has consistently grown stronger since their first V2500 order 15 years ago. During that time we’ve demonstrated our commitment to continuous improvement, introducing new technologies to drive down fuel burn, reduce maintenance cost and improve reliability, ensuring our customers get the most out of their assets.”

In Greater China, the V2500 powers over 250 aircraft in service and there are more than 150IAE-powered aircraft currently on order in the region. The V2500 was also the launch engine for the Airbus Final Assembly Line China (FALC) in Tianjin in 2009, where nine of the first 10 aircraft produced were powered by IAE.

The new IAE-powered aircraft are the latest V2500 SelectOne™ build standard offering benefits of reduced CO2 emissions and noise levels as well as an one per cent additional reduction in fuel burn, bringing the V2500’s total advantage to up to four percent. The added benefit of creating a reliable engine and lowest cost of ownership maintains IAE’s position as the technology leader within the aerospace industry.

The 22,000-33,000lb of thrust V2500 is available in seven different thrust settings to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet. Nearly 6,000 V2500 engines are in service or on firm order with more than 190 customers around the world.

The V2500 SelectOne™ build standard improves time-on-wing by up to 20 percent, and is compliant with the most stringent CAEP/6 NOx standards. It entered service on time in October 2008.
